Your data.
Clear choices.

This policy covers the PIIRC Mac app by P Industries LLC (P.Industries). Your IRC network and services you choose have their own policies.

Your IRC connections

PIIRC connects to the IRC servers or bouncers you configure. They receive your network address, connection identity, authentication information and messages as required by IRC. Channel participants and recipients receive the messages you send. Their retention and moderation policies are separate from PIIRC's. TLS protects the connection to the server; it does not make IRC messages end-to-end encrypted.

What stays on your Mac

Network profiles, preferences, favorites, workspace layouts and reading positions are saved locally. Configured passwords and upload tokens are stored in macOS Keychain. Saving conversation history and unsent drafts is optional and off by default. The local history archive is not encrypted by PIIRC; protect access to your Mac and its backups. Credentials typed into a chat message are message content and may be recorded.

History and deletion

Settings → History controls recording, retention and deletion of the local message archive. Turning recording off does not delete existing history. Deleting local history does not remove messages from IRC servers, other people's clients, backups or the current in-memory conversation. Unsent draft persistence is controlled separately. Removing a saved network removes its configured credential references through the account controls.

Links and file sharing

Link previews load only when you request them and contact the destination website. Opening a link uses your browser or mail app. File uploads require an HTTPS endpoint you configure and an explicit upload action; that provider receives the selected file and configured authentication. Uploaded links are prepared as drafts. Those services may retain information under their own policies.

Activity and notifications

After you grant permission, local macOS notifications may show the network, conversation, sender and activity counts, but not message text. Control alerts in Settings → Alerts and System Settings → Notifications. Typing indicators and read markers can be sent when supported by the server; typing indicators can be disabled in Settings → Workspace. PIIRC does not provide a hosted push or always-online service in this release.

Diagnostics and support

PIIRC has no built-in advertising, developer analytics or automatic diagnostic uploads. Connection → Diagnostics lets you review and explicitly copy an anonymous summary without chat text, account names or credentials. macOS and TestFlight may collect diagnostics according to your Apple settings. If you email support, P.Industries receives the address and information you choose to send; do not include passwords or private keys. Contact support for questions about information you have sent us.

Blocking and abuse

Conversation Settings can hide messages from specified nicknames and mute alerts. These local controls do not ban a person from an IRC network or prevent the server from receiving their messages; hidden content may remain in local history. Contact the network or channel operators for network enforcement. You can also contact P.Industries about abusive use or safety problems involving PIIRC. Share only the minimum evidence needed; no conversation is attached automatically.
