Workspaces and accounts
Apps in one workspace share website sign-ins unless you give an app a separate account. Groups organize apps; they do not create separate sign-ins. Moving a tab between panes or windows keeps its original account.
Use Website Data for This Account in the page-tools menu to inspect and remove website data. Clearing shared data can sign out other apps in that account. Close affected tabs first; open websites can recreate data.
Downloads and recovery
Choose an optional download folder in Settings → Downloads for each workspace. If its permission expires or the folder is unavailable, Ostra asks where to save the file. Select the folder again to restore automatic downloads.
After restarting Ostra, interrupted downloads do not automatically resume. Open source page returns to the original website and account so you can start again. Older downloads may not have a saved source page. If the original account is unavailable, open the site in the correct account yourself.
Use Locate… to select a completed file that moved or needs permission again. Clearing download history does not delete files; partial files are not automatically removed.
If a website does not work
Check that you are using the intended account. Review the site’s camera, microphone, popup, and blocking settings. A site exception can help diagnose a blocking problem. Do not ignore certificate warnings or send us login credentials.
Website operators control their content, sign-in requirements, and compatibility. Ostra does not provide a VPN or hide your network address.
Developer controls
The local developer server and console forwarding are optional and off by default. Settings → Developer API provides the access controls and AI API guide. Share its token only with trusted local software.
Console messages can contain website information. Stop the server when finished to invalidate its token and clear the local event history. Ostra does not automatically send logs to an AI provider.
Your information
Workspaces, bookmarks, browsing history, and ordinary download history are stored on your Mac. Private browsing does not hide activity from websites, your network, or your VPN provider.
